Under GDPR your customers enjoy a number of rights including the right to restrict processing of their data. In this article we will explain how Xtremepush can assist you in being compliant in regard to this right.
This is the right of an individual to block the processing of their data. This right is typically temporary and exercised while other investigations or requests are being executed place. For example a rectification request or if the user has requested that you cease processing personal data for direct marketing and provide them with access to their data.
Servicing a Request to Restrict Processing
If you have to process a request from a customer that requires restricting processing of their data on xtremepush then you can.
If you are not familiar with where user profile data can be found on the platform first read our user profile data guide to familiarise yourself with this part of the platform in the docs here:
To restricting processing of customer data navigate to Segments > Suppression Lists and use the search fields to find the user who has made the request using a Customer ID or email.
Once you have found the suppression list page, check if there is an existing list for restricted users, if not create it. Give it an appropriate name and choose the identifier by which the restricted users will be identified.
Once you have confirmed you have the correct identifier for the user you want to restrict add them to the list using that identifier e.g. their email or user id.
If you need to to remove the restriction later return to your restricted user list search for the user using their identifier and use the delete icon to remove them from the list.
